Coach Dan

Coach Dan Speaks:

Practicing overhand lay ups is essential for basketball players of all skill levels, and this drill can help you perfect your technique. Start on one side of the basketball hoop, with a basketball in your hands. Dribble towards the basket, and take an overhand shot beginning from near the top of the square underneath it. Continue this process until you have made ten shots — then switch to shoot with your other hand on the opposite side of the basketball goal. The drill is effective in helping you practice stationary overhand lay ups, but you can make it more difficult by eventually adding some dribbling or running before shooting.
