Coach Dan

Coach Dan Speaks:

Practicing basketball drills can significantly improve players’ dribbling and finishing around the basket. To practice Mikan Variations Facing The Half-Court Line 2, start underneath the basketball rim with the basketball, facing the half-court line. On the right side of the basketball hoop, jump off your right leg and make a layup with your right hand off the backboard. On the left side of the basketball hoop, jump off your left leg and make a layup with your left hand off the backboard (remember to keep outside foot — outside hand). If you successfully complete 10 layups according to these instructions, congratulations! Once you master basics such as these layups, try adding more spin to make even more difficult shots from different positions on the backboard. Make sure to get as close to maximum height on each jump for better accuracy in shooting basketballs.
