Diamond drill

How To Perform This Basketball Drill

Set up 4 cones (or any other marker) in the diamond shape approximately 15 feet away from each other.
Start exactly in the middle of the diamond and backpedal to the back cone.
Once you reach it, explode to the center of the diamond, break it down (chop your feet), get into a defensive shuffle, and slide to the outside cone.
Touch it and shuffle back to the opposite cone; touch it and get back to the middle.
Once you are there, accelerate forward to the last cone, break it down and come back to the center.
Make sure to go full speed and stay low all the time!

Coach Dan

Coach Dan Speaks:

This basketball drill is perfect for warming up before basketball practice or games. The Diamond Drill can be used to work on dribbling skills as well as defensive movements. To set it up, place four cones (or any other marker) in a diamond shape approximately 15 feet away from each other. Start in the middle of the diamond and backpedal to the back cone. After you reach it, explode to the center, chop your feet and get into a defensive shuffle then slide to the outside cone. Touch it while in a shuffle and get back to the opposite cone^; touch it and comeback to the middle. When you arrive, accelerate forward again to the last cone, break it down and come back to middle. A key pointer is that you should be going full speed at all times while staying low! This drill will definitely keep you agile on the basketball court!
