Coach Dan

Coach Dan Speaks:

To shoot basketball jump shots effectively, you should begin by positioning yourself approximately 10 feet away from the basket. Make sure you are in the proper square stance with your feet shoulder width apart and knees slightly bent. When you are ready to execute the jump shot, lift both of your feet off of the ground and take a hop down before shooting the basketball. This basketball drill helps players to develop power and force needed for a successful jump shot. You can practice by repeating this exercise multiple times until your shooting technique becomes refined.
