The basketball dribbling drill of 'get into the square position' offers players of all skill levels a solid workout to improve their hand-eye coordination and basketball technique. The drill requires the athlete to start by pounding the basketball with one hand while throwing the tennis ball forward with the other. Once the tennis ball hits the ground, they must make a move such as a crossover, between, or behind, then accelerate and catch it - without letting it hit the ground for a second time. This drill has become popularly known as 'pounding with drops and changing direction on the move’ – providing an excellent basketball training exercise that works on agility as well as ball control .
